Media Credentialing

CPD/USSS Issued Credentials will be required on the following dates:

  • Sunday, Sept. 27 (valid)
  • Monday, Sept. 28 (valid)
  • Tuesday, Sept. 29 (required)

Individual media can pick up their CPD-issued photo credential at the Accreditation Center on the dates and times listed below. All times listed are local, and hours may vary and are to be determined.

Credentials for large media organizations will be distributed in bulk and picked up by one to two representatives. Bulk distribution is by appointment only.

 

Accreditation Center

**All members of the media are required to pick up their credentials before entering the perimeter. Media credentials will be distributed during the following hours (listed in local time):

  • Sunday, Sept. 27, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 29, 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

 

Media Filing Center

North Dome, Joyce Center

The media filing center will be open 24 hours a day, and the Rate Card, School Help, Technology and CPD desks will be fully operational during the following hours:

  • Thursday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-start of sweep
  • Tuesday, Sept. 29, 7 a.m. until the last

Media parking during the debate period will be in the Compton Family Ice Arena parking lot, north of the Compton Family Ice Arena. Entrances to the lot are on Joyce Drive and Holy Cross Drive.

 

Outdoor Standup Locations

(**There will be no access to outdoor platforms starting Monday evening during the

The CPD team will be hosting a lottery draw for the outdoor platform assignments on the following schedule:

  • National draws Friday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m.
  • Local/others draw Saturday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m.

National Workspace

Workspace will be accessible on the following days:

Truck/Trailer Parking

Parking passes for all media trucks and trailers, accompanied by maps and directions to parking, will be available at the Information Desk in the Accreditation Center and work in coordination with the Media Center Rate Card Desk. The Information Desk hours are:

  • Thursday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 27, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

 

Trucks will be able to access the parking areas on the following days:

  • Thursday, Sept. 24
  • Friday, Sept. 25
  • Saturday, Sept. 26
  • Sunday, Sept. 27
  • Monday, Sept. 28

All trucks and trailers must be in position by 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28. After this, access is

closed and no more vehicles will be allowed in until after the debate is over on Tuesday, Sept. 29. There will be no access during the USSS security sweep on Monday night.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 30. Tear down after 2 p.m.

 

Debate Hall

hall. No audio recording devices may operate during these periods.)

The CPD media team will conduct national platform draws at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25.

 

Security

US Secret Service

All equipment and vehicles must be in their positions by 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, 2020.  Vehicles must display a CPD-issued parking pass which includes contact information for personnel. Keys must be left with the vehicle — on the driver’s seat or in the driver’s door. All equipment cases, vehicle compartments and vehicles must be left unlocked for the sweep. Anything not accessible to the agents (e.g., padlocked) will be opened.

 

Actual sweep times will be announced on site.

 

Directions to Notre Dame

By Air

South Bend International Airport is about 15 minutes by car from the Notre Dame campus (flights should be booked to South Bend, Indiana — airport code SBN). Various transportation methods are available (e.g., taxi, rental car, limo). Visitors also can fly into Chicago then drive or take a bus to Notre Dame. The University is about two hours by car from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and about 90 minutes from Midway International Airport. By Train

The South Shore Line trains run directly from the Chicago Loop (at the corner of Michigan and Randolph) to South Bend International Airport (about a three-hour trip). From the airport, the Notre Dame campus is approximately a 15-minute ride by car. Various transportation methods are available (e.g., taxi, rental car, limo).
